Welcome to the website for the North Carolina Senior Tar Heel Legislators (NCSTHL)
NC DHHS Letter – Safety Note (Click Here)
The NCSTHL is made up of Delegates and Alternates representing one hundred counties in North Carolina. Each county has one Delegate and one Alternate (must be 60+ years of age or older). Delegates and Alternates representing seven county service area meet to review local and regional needs and priorities to pursue at the statewide meetings. In addition, each STHL works in their own county advocating for resources and solutions for older adults.
We are facing many challenges as we strive to meet the needs and demands of a rapidly growing aging population. North Carolina ranks 9th in the nation of 60+ population. There are 10,000 older adults waiting for services such as; meals on wheels, transportation, in-home side assistance and other services that would help them remain active, independent and healthy
Delegates and Alternates meet three times yearly and establish “Legislative priorities. Those of which we advocate for in the North Carolina General Assembly. Together, we work at creating a state where Seniors can age with dignity and respect. Each of us have a role to play in making this happen.
We listen to concerns in our communities and are available to serve and support the 60+ population of North Carolina. We support free tuition for College or community College’s classes which keep us abreast of current skills needed to function. These are the kinds of services that will help us remain active, independent and healthy.
Feel free to contact us with any questions and/or comments you might have. We are available to come to your county and address groups or clubs.
